After plugging it into the easily accessible OBD diagnostic interface in the driver's footwell, the coding dongle uses the innovative APP that is already pre-configured for you to completely activate the retrofitted trailer hitch!

The KECODI coding interface recognizes which trailer control unit you have installed and carries out the activation fully automatically within a very short time.

You can book this activation of the trailer hitch on your existing KECODI coding interface, which you received from us, for example, with a retrofit package.

If yes:

Please enter the serial number of your KECODI coding interface or the order number with which you previously purchased it from us in the text field provided.

We will book the trailer hitch activation sequence as quickly as possible via online approval on your existing coding interface; no shipping is necessary.

If NO:

We will deliver the preconfigured KECODI coding interface to you by parcel post.

Please note the exclusion for vehicles from model year 2023 onwards with installed PR number NI8 (NI8 = Without UNECE CS (R155) and SU (R156) with SFD2-SG) or installed PR number NI7 (NI7 = With UNECE CS (R155) without SU (R156)) or installed PR number NI9 (NI9 = With UNECE CS&SU) or installed PR number NI1 (NI1 = With UNECE CS&SU).

Unfortunately, these models cannot be retrofitted or unlocked.

Vehicles from the 2023 model year with an installed PR number of NI0 (NI0 = Without UNECE CS&SU) can only be upgraded to a limited extent. Please contact us in advance with the chassis number so we can verify this. Vehicles from previous model years (e.g., 2022, 2021, 2020, etc., where this PR number does not yet exist) can still be retrofitted.

The activation of the trailer hitch / AHK is possible for all VW ID.4 models of all years of manufacture and all equipment variants.

You can install any tow bar in your VW ID.4.In addition to factory-installed plug-in or swiveling trailer hitches, the KECODI coding interface also supports swiveling, rigid, and plug-in trailer hitches from aftermarket manufacturers. There is no manufacturer restriction. EVERY trailer hitch is supported by the activation!

Programming is carried out via all control units that are installed and need to be activated; the KECODI coding interface also recognizes this fully automatically (e.g. brake electronics, ACC radar sensor pre-sense, front camera, central electrical system control unit, rear view camera, PDC parking aid, lane change assistant).

Immediately after installing a trailer hitch, all imaginable lights in the speedometer light up, the ACC / emergency braking assistant as well as the front camera (lane assist, traffic sign recognition, etc.) no longer work, after coding with the KECODI the error messages disappear and everything works.

If you're retrofitting a swiveling original trailer hitch (we also offer the appropriate connection packages and cable sets for this), the KECODI will also configure the trailer hitch control unit during the coding process. This software activation is essential for the release mechanism to function.
