The intake system for the Honda Civic Type-R FK8 presented Eventuri's aircraft engineers with a new challenge, requiring considerable ingenuity and technical expertise. The problem was the position of the OEM airbox, which in the FK8 sits directly in front of the radiator fan. This arrangement poses a challenge for Eventuri's open filter system – how do you ensure the intake system doesn't draw hot air from the engine bay? The solution is a completely new type of carbon scoop that draws fresh air from the direction of the fenders. The opening, twice the size of the original airbox, is no longer in the airflow of the radiator fan, ensuring cool and even ventilation. The well-known effect of Eventuri intake systems then takes effect in the Honda Civic Type-R FK8: The airflow is accelerated via the cone inside the filter housing. The then concentrated and directed air arrives at the turbo at lower temperatures and more evenly due to less friction in the air intake. This not only significantly improves throttle response but also increases performance.
