The intake system for the Honda Civic Type-R FK8 was a new kind of challenge for Eventuri's aircraft engineers, requiring a lot of ingenuity and technical know-how. The problem was the position of the OEM airbox, which in the FK8 sits directly in front of the radiator fan. This arrangement poses a challenge for Eventuri's open filter system - how do you ensure that the intake system does not draw hot air from the engine compartment? The solution is a completely new type of carbon scoop that draws the fresh air flow from the direction of the fenders. The opening, which is twice as large as the original airbox, is no longer in the air flow of the radiator fan, thus ensuring cool and even ventilation. The well-known effect of the Eventuri intake systems then takes effect in the Honda Civic Type-R FK8: the air flow is accelerated via the cone inside the filter housing. The then bundled and directed air arrives at the turbo at lower temperatures and more evenly due to less friction in the air supply. This not only improves the response significantly, but also increases performance.
