Eventuri intake system for Audi RS6 & RS7 C8:
Power increase – Stage 1: 45-50 hp, 49 ft-lbs
Level 1 Acceleration 100-200 km/h: Reduced by 0.6 s
Power increase – Stage 2: 60-80 hp, 60-70 ft-lbs
The intake system of the Audi C8 RS6 is the result of extensive development, testing, and prototyping. Our goal was to address two main criteria: 1) Increased flow rate. 2) Smooth airflow. The first goal was achieved by utilizing all of the limited space in the RS6 engine bay, which was severely restricted by the underside of the hood. Our solution was to completely redesign the entire airbox to maximize volume, enlarge the flow inlet ports, and create a more favorable filter angle to the turbos. In addition, we dramatically increased the size of the turbo inlets by up to 85% when measuring the cross-sectional area at the ports. The second goal was achieved by developing an organically shaped system with a specially rounded plate filter to ensure the airflow path contained no sharp corners, thus enabling laminar flow. With smooth transitions from the filter to the turbo inlets, our intake minimizes turbulence, allowing the turbos to operate more efficiently. We partnered with BMC to develop a custom filter element to ensure the filtering area is as large as possible while maintaining clean airflow.
With all objectives met, our C8 RS6 intake system delivers on all fronts, allowing the turbos to generate boost more efficiently. This results in improved throttle response and significant power gains, independently tested, that increase with higher tune states. The measured power gains result from our complete system, from the airbox base to the cover to the inlets.
Each intake system consists of:
- Carbon fiber airbox base
- Carbon fiber airbox cover
- Custom-made BMC panel filter
- Enlarged turbo inlets with CNC-machined reinforcement
- Custom silicone hoses with OEM specification clamps
- Custom-made hardware
Test bench testing
Our intake has been independently tested both on the dyno and on the road. At higher tuning levels, the turbos require more air, and therefore the stock airbox becomes a greater restriction. Here are some results from reputable tuners who have tested the intake.
LEVEL 1 TESTING
Dyno testing was carried out by Awesome GTI in the UK on their own C8 RS6 fitted with an aftermarket OPF rear exhaust and their own Stage 1 remap. They ran the car 4 times in 4th gear with the stock airbox and then swapped to the Eventuri while the car remained on the dyno. The car was then run 4 times in 4th gear. All testing was carried out on the same day and no other changes were made. The graph below shows the peak power output of the stock airbox compared to the peak power output of the Eventuri intake. Both were the first dyno pulls with subsequent pulls reducing power due to heat. As can be seen below, the intake provides a significant power gain across the entire rev range. The highlighted point shows the highest gain around 60bhp at the crank.
STAGE 2 TESTING
Dyno testing on a Stage 2 RS6 was conducted by Eurocharged Canada on a car with aftermarket downpipes, intercoolers, and their own Stage 2 remap. Figures here are shown at the wheel. They ran the car several times with both the stock airbox and the Eventuri, with the results shown below after determining the best results compared to the best Eventuri results. Again, we can see a dramatic increase in power, and since this is at Stage 2, the stock airbox is an even greater limitation. The highlighted point shows the highest gain in the rpm range of 79 hp at the wheels.
DRAG-STRIP TEST
We took a Stage 1 RS6 to a local drag strip to measure the influence of the intake on quarter-mile times and also on 100-200 km/h times. The car ran three times with the stock airbox to achieve repeatable results, and then the intake was swapped to the Eventuri. The car was then run three more times to ensure consistent results. The results are:
QUARTER MILE
Series airbox 11.2s
Eventuri 10.75s
.
100-200 km/h
Series airbox 7.46s
Eventuri 6.90s
